Indian Head Massage concentrates on your head, neck, shoulders and face. That's where tension gathers when you're stressed, worried or carrying too much. Your jaw clenches. Your shoulders creep up towards your ears. Your scalp feels tight.This treatment works specifically with those areas to help everything soften and release. It's gentle, calming and surprisingly powerful for such a focused approach.

Working With Energy and Pressure Points

Like Tui Na, this massage works with your body's energy channels and acupressure points. Many of the major channels either start or end on your face and head, which is why this seemingly small treatment area can have such a big impact on how you feel overall.The difference is in the touch. Where Tui Na can be quite firm and direct, Indian Head Massage uses gentler pressure. It's nurturing rather than strong. More like being cared for than worked on.

With or Without Oil

You can have this treatment with or without oil, depending on what you prefer and what your day looks like afterwards. The oil adds an extra layer of nourishment for your skin and scalp, and the treatment can feel even more luxurious.If you're heading back to work or have plans afterwards, we can skip the oil entirely. You'll still get the full benefit of the massage without needing to worry about your hair.

How Indian Head Massage Helps You

What Happens During Your Session

Indian Head Massage can be done seated in a comfortable chair or lying down, depending on what works best for you and what else we're including in your session. Many treatments are done seated, which means you can keep your clothes on and don't need to think about getting on and off a massage table.

Your first appointment includes an extra 15 minutes to chat through what's going on for you and what you're hoping to get from the treatment. I need to know if you've got any health issues that might affect how we work.

During The Session

I'll use gentle, rhythmic movements across your scalp, face, neck and shoulders. Some techniques are flowing and soothing. Others focus on specific points that need attention.

You're In Control

If we're using oil, I'll work it through your scalp and hair as well as your skin. It's warm, it smells lovely (if you choose scented oils) and it adds to the whole experience of being properly looked after.You can talk if you want to. Some people like to chat while they relax. Others prefer complete silence. There's no right way to receive this treatment. Whatever helps you let go is what we'll do.

About Your Practitioner

I came to massage as a recipient long before I became a practitioner. I know what it feels like to desperately need someone to take the weight off your shoulders because I lived that way for 15 years.

Working above a pub in London, my weekly massage session was the only thing that kept me remotely sane. I learned what good treatment feels like from the receiving end.

When I trained in Indian Head Massage, I brought that understanding with me. I know the difference between someone going through the motions and someone who's genuinely present with what you need.

I've trained in Tui Na, Chinese oil massage and Indian Head Massage. Each one brings something different to how I work with clients. The beauty of offering all three is that I can adapt to whatever your body needs on the day.

Sometimes that's the gentle, nurturing approach of Indian Head Massage. Sometimes you need something stronger. We'll work it out together.

This is the gentlest of the three massage styles I offer, but gentle doesn't mean ineffective. Sometimes gentle is exactly what your body needs to feel safe enough to release.

Kasia is a highly professional, very effective and empathetic massage therapist - undoubtedly the best I have experienced. She is friendly and welcoming, the setting in her home is relaxing and calming.
